Well, I got this a few days ago and finally got a chance to take it to the lake. I was planning on getting a map card for it, but after testing it, i think for now the maps built in are adequate for me. The picture is incredibly clear. This unit is replacing a cuda with about the same size display. Even with the small display, I could easily read the screen while operating the boat. The manual is not great, but I was willing to expoler the options. I used the "wizard" set up initially, and later went to advanced mode. This unit is reasonably intuitive if you take the time to read the manual and familiarize yourself with the word referencing terms( the language they use for each changeable item). At first I could not figure out how to display the battery voltage. Well, you have to be in advanced mode in order to have that choice for your "screen overlay" info.
Since my Cuda had the same type of transponder, I now have a "SPARE" one. So, I have temperature of water, voltage in battery, speed, and split screen fishfinder and chartplotter. You can split the chart vertical or horizontal. Both venues (fishfinder and navigation chart) seemed to do a good job for me. I WAS IMPRESSED. Especially after figuring out a few of the options on the settings.
I went to a local store to see one in person. I would recommend that for anyone making the leap to GPS/Fishfinder combos. This is my first combo unit.
Feel free to BUY this unit. It is better than I had hoped for, especially in screen clarity.
